It’s the start of the autumn festive season…

Which while being fun for humans, can be a tricky time for your dog.

Trick-or-treaters, loud fireworks and darker evening walks can all cause stress…

So here are a few quick and easy ways you can keep your dog calm and happy this autumn…

Halloween Costume Safety

Dog costumes are cute and can be fun.

But be careful when dressing up your best friend, as it could cause them stress.

So only dress up your pet if you know they love it.

And make sure the costumes fit your dog nicely, without stopping their movements or ability to breathe.

(And if you do dress them up, send us photos, we’d love to see!)

Keep Decorations Out Of Reach

We all love decorating for autumn and Halloween…

But bear in mind what your dog will be able to reach.

It’s always best to keep lit candles and jack-o’-lanterns up high, where your dog won’t be able to get their paws on them.

So you can avoid accidents, burns or your dog eating the raw pumpkins…

Calm During Fireworks

Let’s face it, between now and New Year’s Eve there will be tons of fireworks.

The loud noises and bright lights can frighten your dog. Making them uneasy and overwhelmed.

Thankfully, there are a few easy tips you can follow to keep your dog stress-free:

✔️Distract them with a new toy or treat

✔️Create a safe, cosy space for them to burrow

✔️Offer a calming chew such as Relax + Restore

✔️Play soothing, classical music

We recommend you start doing these before Bonfire Night…

To help your dog get used to these changes. So when the fireworks come, you’ll be well prepared.

Autumn Walks

Autumn is one of the best times for extra fun walks.

Your dog can enjoy hunting for sticks and crunching leaves.

But be careful of acorns, conkers or mushrooms, as these can be toxic for your dog if eaten.

What’s more, make you and your pup as visible as possible during your walks. A reflective collar and a vest can be great for those darker evenings.

Safe Adventures

Keeping your dog safe this autumn doesn’t have to be complicated.

Just remember, a little preparation goes a long way…

By following these easy tips, you can keep your dog safe this autumn. So they can enjoy all their autumn adventures…

No matter what they get up to!
